Recording with Reaper for Songwriters
I'm back at Songsalive! Orange County for another workshop. Rather than technology tools or social media and promotional strategies, I'm going to cover how to record yourself using Reaper - the popular DAW from Cockos.
My goal toward the end of last year was to work on the professionalism on my recordings. I'll write about this in another post soon but I was challenged by Emiko last January (2018) and I did not meet her challenge. But toward the end of the year, I dove into more diligently.
Workshop details: (Facebook event)
Location: Goldenwest Diner, 13030 Goldenwest St,, Westminster, California 92683
Time: 6:30pm - 9:30pm - that's the entire OC meeting time. I'll present for 90 minutes.
What we'll cover:
- The basic process of recording
- Destructive vs. non-destructive editing
- Your recording interface
- Getting & setting your BPM
- Recording a scratch track
- Recording a guitar track
- Recording a vocal track
- Adding additional tracks
- Organizing tracks
- Outputting your file as a WAV and MP3
- And more...
You will NOT walk away as an audio engineer. But, you will be much more comfortable with almost any recording software and have great confidence in recording your own music with greater flexibility and professionalism.
